Abstract

The article discusses chronic balanitis associated with Streptococcus agalactiae in patients taking iSGLT2 inhibitors for Type 2 diabetes mellitus or heart failure. While balanitis is often presumed to be candidal, this study found cases caused by Sa without candidiasis. Treatment with oral and topical antibiotics led to significant improvement in all cases, even in non-diabetic patients. The findings suggest that targeting Sa may be effective in cases of dapagliflozin-associated balanoposthitis when initial antifungal therapy fails. [Extracted from the article]
