Abstract
The article focuses on surgeons' perceptions of the environmental impact of the healthcare sector, highlighting the significant contribution of healthcare to global greenhouse gas emissions, particularly from surgical practices. An international survey conducted by the Global Eco-Health Collaborative revealed that only 35% of surgical care providers believe the healthcare sector contributes to climate change, with many respondents unaware of the true sources of emissions. The findings underscore the urgent need for educational initiatives to enhance awareness among healthcare professionals about their industry's environmental footprint and to promote sustainable practices. The article advocates for integrating sustainability into medical education to empower future healthcare providers to address these critical issues. [Extracted from the article]
