Abstract

The article discusses a new project in South Sudan that aims to strengthen the country's central bank, the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS). The project, funded by an $18 million grant from the International Development Association (IDA), seeks to enhance BoSS's institutional capacity in order to address financial sector challenges, transform the banking sector, and promote private sector-led growth. The project also aligns with the World Bank's Country Engagement Note for South Sudan and the priorities of the Government of South Sudan. Additionally, the project will support the institutional strengthening of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to combat money laundering and financing terrorism. [Extracted from the article]
