Abstract
The article discusses the indictment of three Iranian conspirators for allegedly attempting to interfere in the U.S. presidential electoral process at the direction of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In response, the U.S. has imposed sanctions, a practice that dates back to the 1979 hostage crisis, aimed at inducing positive behavioral changes rather than punishment. However, the effectiveness of these sanctions is questioned, as they have led to significant political and economic strife in Iran, impacting millions and raising concerns about their broader implications. The article suggests exploring alternative approaches to U.S.-Iran relations, including revisiting historical agreements and creating new treaties, to achieve more favorable outcomes.
