NEW FINDS IN LYDIA AND THE UPPER CAYSTER VALLEY IN INNER WESTERN ANATOLIA.

Abstract
The report presents archaeological discoveries made by the author as expert in legal investigations carried out by various courts in the territories of the ancient region of Lydia as well as in Tire, Ödemiş, Kiraz, and Bayındır between 2003 and 2024. Ranging from the Lydian period in the 7th/6th centuries bc to the Late Byzantine era, they are presented in 15 sections: (1) finds concerning the tumuli in western Lydia and the upper Cayster valley, (2) other tumuli and their reuse during the Roman period, (3) Lydian painted ware in the museums of Ödemiş, Akhisar, and Afyonkarahisar, (4) a Roman aqueduct or dam near Sardis, (5) a Roman marble monument with centaurs from Kula in central Lydia, (6) Hermokapeleia in north-western Lydia, (7) höyük sites, rural settlements and their necropoleis in Roman Lydia, (8) an honorary Roman inscription from Pirinççi south-east of Ödemiş, (9) Hellenistic and Roman small finds from the necropoleis of the upper Cayster valley and Lydia, (10) Roman and Early Byzantine stone quarries near Bayındır in the upper Cayster valley, (11) Late Antique and Early Byzantine farmsteads, (12) other Late Antique and Byzantine remains, (13) excavations of an Early Byzantine basilica in Salihli near Sardis, (14) architectural decorative elements and their spoliation in Byzantine, Late Medieval, and Ottoman Lydia, (15) catalogue of the spolia in the Tapduk Emre türbesi.
