Abstract
Thus, the authors' suggestion that the SDGs represent a paradigm shift is questionable, given how "development" remains at the forefront of the UN's agenda. In a highly detailed fashion, the book recalls the diplomatic processes, from early January 2011 to the end of June 2012, which paved the way for the establishment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their prominent place at the heart of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Additionally, after the OWG submitted its proposal in 2014, a round of intergovernmental negotiations began to craft the overarching structure of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which ultimately encompassed the SDGs.
