Abstract
The UN's aviation council has ruled that Russia was responsible for shooting down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in 2014, resulting in the deaths of all 298 passengers and crew, including over 200 Dutch and Australian citizens. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) agreed with claims by Australia and the Netherlands that Russia used a surface-to-air missile over eastern Ukraine, violating international air law. The Kremlin has rejected the ruling, and the ICAO council will now consider what form of reparation is appropriate for the victims and their families. [Extracted from the article]
