Abstract
This work analyzes the oeuvre of contemporary French author Yasmina Reza through the lens of happiness, focusing on how this theme emerges implicitly in her characters and narratives across both theater and novels. It examines the representation of familial, romantic, and friendship relationships, highlighting their complexities, including the fragility of friendships and the supportive yet challenged family bonds. The study also explores the physical manifestations of happiness and suffering in Reza’s texts, incorporating philosophical, sociological, and psychological perspectives. Additionally, it situates Reza’s work within contemporary issues such as the Anthropocene. This detailed analysis offers researchers a nuanced understanding of happiness as portrayed in Reza’s literature.
