Abstract
This article focuses on Hijinx Theatre, a Cardiff-based company specializing in theatre with learning disabled and autistic actors, and its innovative integration of technology into performance arts. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hijinx adapted by using digital platforms like Zoom and Gather Town to continue training and create immersive, hybrid live-online productions such as "Meta vs Life," which combines live theatre with interactive virtual elements. The company also collaborated internationally on the Eye See Ai project, using augmented reality to present theatrical performances in Hanoi and Cardiff, emphasizing cultural exchange and accessibility. Hijinx's approach highlights the challenges and opportunities of merging technology with live theatre to expand creative possibilities and audience engagement for neurodivergent artists.
