Abstract
The article focuses on teaching mime as a valuable skill within speech and drama education, highlighting its benefits for developing imagination, creativity, facial expression, and physicality. It emphasizes mime's usefulness for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including those with speech impediments, dyslexia, and ADHD, by providing a non-verbal way to engage in acting and storytelling. Practical teaching strategies discussed include isolating and slowing down actions, using physical objects for rehearsal, filming performances for self-critique, and maintaining a simple, clear narrative. The article also underscores the importance of following examination syllabi and keeping written records to ensure accuracy and progression in mime training.
