Abstract
The article takes a look into the split identity of Romania. Topics discussed include the fractured identity of Romania depicted in Matieu Caragiale's novel "Rakes of the Old Court," split identity in Romanian society with social classes being synchronized culturally, intellectually, or politically elsewhere in Europe, split in individuals as some complain about the misfortunes of being a Romanian and Russia's disinformation and social media manipulation in Romania amid its invasion of Ukraine.
