Abstract
The article discusses research which developed a climate model that more accurately simulates atmospheric circulation over the Sahara and the impacts of vegetation on rainfall by exploring the unique ethnological and climatological record of Green Sahara or North African Humid Period 6,000 to 11,000 years ago. Cited are results demonstrating the sensitivity of the Sahara Desert to changes in past climate, and the implications of the sensitivity to present-day climate change.
