Abstract
The introductory chapter frames the main themes in the book and the approach taken to understand the Christchurch earthquakes. I The Post-Earthquake City i presents a detailed account of the 2011 Christchurch earthquake experience from a range of perspectives, interrogating questions such as what constitutes a post-earthquake city and, more importantly, how it might be actualised. Part II consists of four chapters that discuss four dimensions of the recovery: governance issues, housing recovery, central city recovery and citizen participation in the disaster response and recovery efforts.
