Abstract

Dr. Rhonda Mouton, Director of LaGuardia College Access for Retention and Economic Success (CARES) at LaGuardia Community College (part of the City University of New York), knows what it feels like to have housing uncertainty. In 2005, she and her family fled New Orleans just prior to Hurricane Katrina. She lost her home and her daycare business and had to begin anew not just for her and her daughter but for her extended family. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
