Abstract

This article provides a summary of recent flooding incidents in various African countries. In Angola, six people drowned after their truck was swept away by floodwaters. In Burundi, heavy rains caused floods that resulted in the deaths of five people, including three children. In the Central African Republic, torrential rains left nearly 1,000 people homeless. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, heavy rains caused the deaths of 10 people. In Kenya, floods led to the deaths of 11 people and the displacement of 1,900 households. Madagascar experienced the impact of tropical cyclone Gamane, which affected over 535,000 people and caused extensive damage to infrastructure. In Mozambique, heavy rainfall resulted in nine deaths and 17 injuries. Tanzania also experienced flooding, leading to the deaths of 15 people. The government of Tanzania has launched a project to improve drainage and address frequent flooding in the capital. The coastal district of Rufiji in Tanzania is facing food shortages due to the destruction of farmland caused by floods. [Extracted from the article]
