Abstract
The article discusses the discovery of over 200,000 previously unknown abyssal hills and seamounts in the most detailed global map of the sea floor created using radar data from the SWOT satellite. This new map could aid in studies of plate tectonics, ocean currents, and submarine navigation. The SWOT satellite, launched by NASA and CNES, provides more precise measurements than traditional altimeters and has the potential to revolutionize our understanding of the ocean floor and large-scale forces like plate tectonics.
