Abstract

The article focuses on the impact of the remnants of Hurricane Erin, which are expected to cause severe weather conditions in northern Italy and parts of the Swiss Alps. State forecasters have issued red alerts for the storm, referred to as storm Augustin by Meteo Suisse, predicting heavy rainfall in the Italian regions of Lombardy, Piedmont, and Liguria, along with risks of flooding, damaging winds, and hail. Rainfall in the Swiss Alps could exceed 260 millimeters (10 inches), increasing the likelihood of mudslides and flooding in rivers and streams. Additionally, heavy rainfall is anticipated in Germany and southwestern France, with unusually large waves expected along the Bay of Biscay and the English Channel. [Extracted from the article]
