Abstract
The article discusses a study revealing that Earth's core is leaking gold and other precious metals, primarily through volcanic activity. Researchers found evidence of ruthenium, a platinum group metal, in volcanic rocks from Hawaii, indicating that this metal originated from the core-mantle boundary, located over 1,800 miles beneath the surface. The study suggests that some precious metals we mine today may have originally come from the core, and it provides insights into the geological processes that form regions like Hawaii, which is situated on a deep mantle plume. The findings challenge previous assumptions about the isolation of the Earth's core and highlight the movement of super-heated mantle material to the surface. [Extracted from the article]
