Abstract
The article reports on a 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Taiwan at 11:05 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located off the northeastern coast near Yilan County. The earthquake caused significant shaking in the capital city, Taipei, where an intensity level of 4 was recorded. In response, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) evacuated staff at some of its campuses in the Hsinchu science park as a precautionary measure. Despite the quake, Taipower confirmed that all power plants were functioning normally, although approximately 3,500 households in eastern Taiwan experienced brief power outages. Major infrastructure, including highways and high-speed rail, remained operational following the event. [Extracted from the article]
