Abstract

The article focuses on the evolution of amateur radio emergency services in Boulder County, Colorado, following the deadly 1976 Big Thompson Canyon flood. Topics include the formation of BCARES as a joint ARES®/RACES program, the implementation and expansion of amateur television (ATV) systems for public safety use, and the integration of ATV in monitoring protests, public events, and university security operations.
