Abstract
This article analyzes care and solidarity practices in Chile’s sacrifice zones—Calama, Quintero-Puchuncaví Bay, and Coronel—through the body–territory framework, which views the body as the primary site of resistance interconnected with sociopolitical and ecological dimensions of territory. It argues that (a) solidarity and care are mutually sustaining; (b) the body–territory framework links marginalized bodies, individuals, and territories within human and nonhuman networks via embodied multi-territorialization; and (c) it enables care and solidarity to transcend physical and digital borders, fostering collective resistance. The study highlights women-led movements in these environmentally degraded regions who mobilize through embodied practices and digital platforms to confront neo-extractivism, environmental harm, and intersecting social injustices. By situating care and solidarity as actionable and context-specific, the framework offers a holistic lens for understanding and supporting socio-environmental justice in marginalized communities facing systemic violence and ecological degradation.
