Abstract
Leftover fires from Canada's record wildfire season in 2023, known as "zombie fires," are still smoldering beneath layers of snow and threatening the country's natural gas production. These fires are located near oil and gas wells and other production facilities, and they could potentially disrupt about 3% of Canada's natural gas production. Companies at risk include Tourmaline Oil Corp., Cenovus Energy Inc., Paramount Resources Ltd., and smaller explorers like Westbrick Energy Ltd. Climate change and dry conditions are increasing the risk of wildfires in Canada, and the country is bracing for another smoke-filled summer. [Extracted from the article]
