Abstract

This article from Brainspace explains the reasons for the changing seasons on Earth. The Earth is tilted on its axis as it orbits the Sun, causing different parts of the world to be tilted towards or away from the Sun at different times of the year. This tilt is what gives us the seasons, with more daylight and direct rays from the Sun in the summer and less in the winter. The article also clarifies that the Earth's elliptical orbit around the Sun is not the cause of the seasons, as the Earth is actually closest to the Sun during the winter in the Northern Hemisphere. The article concludes by explaining that there are two solstices (summer and winter) and two equinoxes (spring and fall) each year, which mark the points of greatest tilt and no tilt of the Earth's axis.
