Abstract
This article focuses on the use of drama as an innovative educational approach within Climate Change Education (CCE) to foster creative problem-solving and societal transformation for climate adaptation. It presents a methodological framework and reports on a workshop conducted in Asunción, Paraguay, where participants used drama-based activities—such as role play, image theatre, and improvisation—to explore vulnerabilities and resilience related to extreme weather events like floods and droughts. The study finds that drama, through its key elements of play and narrative, engages participants in experiential learning that deepens understanding of social systems, human values, and climate impacts, while encouraging collaborative development of adaptation strategies. The article argues that integrating arts-based methods like drama into CCE can complement scientific literacy by addressing emotional, social, and cultural dimensions of climate change, thus enhancing participants' capacity for adaptive change.
