Abstract

Tropical cyclone Megan has formed in the Gulf of Carpentaria off the northern coast of Australia and is expected to strengthen in the coming days, according to the country's Bureau of Meteorology. The cyclone is currently a Category 2 and is forecasted to become a Category 3 before crossing the southwest coast of the gulf, likely on Monday. Once it reaches land, Megan is expected to weaken quickly and move west across the Northern Territory. Another low-pressure system off the Pilbara coast in northwest Australia may develop into a tropical cyclone but is not expected to impact the Pilbara coast. [Extracted from the article]
