Abstract
Aclara Resources Inc. is planning to construct a $277 million rare earths separation facility in Louisiana, marking the first of its kind in the United States, as part of efforts by Western nations to decrease dependence on China for critical minerals. The facility will process materials from Aclara's clay deposits in Brazil and Chile, focusing on producing heavy rare earths like dysprosium and terbium for use in electric vehicle and wind turbine magnets. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2027, pending funding and offtake agreements. The project is supported by significant tax incentives from Louisiana and involves partnerships with various international automakers and engineering firm Hatch Ltd. [Extracted from the article]
