Abstract
The article reviews Andy Bruno’s book *Tunguska: A Siberian Mystery and Its Environmental Legacy*, which examines the 1908 Tunguska event—a massive explosion over Siberia that devastated a large forested area and affected indigenous Evenki communities. Bruno traces a century of scientific and popular efforts to understand the event, highlighting the interplay between Soviet science, local knowledge, myth-making, and amateur expeditions. The book also explores colonial dynamics between Russian researchers and indigenous peoples, as well as the environmental challenges posed by the Siberian taiga. Ultimately, Bruno situates the Tunguska phenomenon within broader reflections on human and non-human agency, emphasizing the need to address earthly environmental fragility alongside cosmic mysteries.
