Abstract
The Rockefeller Foundation, led by Rajiv J. Shah, takes a unique approach to philanthropy by developing major initiatives in-house and implementing them through nonprofits and consultants. Shah believes in making transformative investments to uplift as many people as possible. While the foundation has a history of funding scientific breakthroughs, it is also investigating its past involvement in eugenics. The foundation's emphasis on programs rather than simply giving money leads to higher administrative and operating expenses. It has made significant investments in pandemic testing and prevention, but its Pandemic Prevention Institute was shut down due to organizational and strategic issues. The foundation has now shifted its focus to climate change, with a $1 billion commitment to the Geapp clean-energy alliance. While the top-down approach has faced criticism, Rockefeller aims to improve its relationships with nonprofits. [Extracted from the article]
