Abstract

The article discusses efforts to stabilize the direct care workforce (DCW) in the U.S. as of May 2023. Topics covered include the varied titles of DCWs like home health aide and personal care assistant who all provide daily living assistance for their clients without adequate pay, support, and respect, and their link to the outcomes of their clients' quality of life. Also noted are recommendations to aid policymakers in developing targeted solutions for the DCW crisis.
