Abstract
The author points that the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) can advance legislation to make corporations and countries pay for past pollution. Topics discussed include the polluter pays principle which calls for polluters to bear the costs of managing its pollution, the push for COP29 to show more political will to address global warming, and recommendations for COP29 to achieve emissions targets including ending fossil fuel subsidies and pushing legal accountability for climate damage.
