Abstract

The article examines organizational misconduct, particularly using the example of Volkswagen's 'Dieselgate' scandal, and explores social psychological processes involved in understanding and preventing such misconduct. It discusses the tendency to attribute misconduct to 'bad apples,' the concept of the 'banality of corruption,' and introduces an alternative perspective of engaged followership.
