Abstract
This article is a panel discussion on the microeconomic effects of structural reforms. Vincent Sterk suggests running regressions using macro variables such as GDP or unemployment as dependent variables. Inga Heiland explores other consequences of the reform, such as the impact of justice reform on reducing uncertainty and its effect on investment. Claire Lim emphasizes the importance of understanding specific policy measures driving changes in the duration of legal proceedings and suggests including a more micro-founded discussion about liberalization policy. Emanuela Ciapanna responds to comments, explaining the chosen approach to estimate causal effects and isolate the reforms' impact on the Italian economy. The focus on GDP and mark-ups aligns with the nature of the reforms analyzed. [Extracted from the article]
