Arthur Ou.

The article focuses on Taiwanese American photographer Arthur Ou’s project *Viewfinder* (2020–ongoing), which explores the act of seeing as foundational to understanding one’s place in the world. Ou photographs children aged five to seven, capturing their emerging awareness and subjectivity, exemplified by images of his daughter Octavia during New York’s lockdown. The project also reflects Ou’s interest in the intersection of technology and vision, as seen in his photographs of remote telescopes in New Mexico that extend human sight. Through these works, Ou investigates themes of identity, perception, and connection across personal, cultural, and technological dimensions.
