Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the relationship between alcohol consumption per capita (APC) and suicide mortality rates across 30 European countries. The research, which highlights that suicide accounted for 86,000 deaths in Europe in 2021, emphasizes the need for effective suicide prevention strategies, as identified by the World Health Organization. Findings indicate that a 1-liter increase in APC correlates with a rise in suicide rates, particularly among females. The study suggests that national suicide prevention strategies should incorporate APC as a metric to evaluate the impact of interventions targeting alcohol use on suicide rates.
