Abstract

The polluter pays principle is one of the most important legal principles for environmental protection, in addition to the general environmental principles that came to protect the environment within the framework of sustainable development, and this principle focuses on the rule that whoever causes harm to the environment is the one who pays more taxes, and this is considered a penalty As a result of compromising the safety of the environment, And in order to push towards reliance on environmentally friendly technology and industries. This principle expresses the intention of public authorities in most countries of the world to transfer a large part of the burdens and costs of pollution control from the shoulders of governments and pass them on to the polluters themselves, where according to the general principle and the rules of social justice, the one who bears the burden of environmental pollution is the one who caused it.
