Abstract

This article examines healthcare providers’ knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding the 340B Drug Pricing Program within a multisite federally qualified health center (FQHC). The 340B program requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient medications at discounted prices to eligible safety-net providers, enabling these organizations to expand patient services and improve medication access for vulnerable populations. Survey results from 65 prescribers at the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic revealed generally positive attitudes toward the program’s benefits but identified significant gaps in providers’ understanding of its purpose and operational details. The study suggests that enhanced prescriber education could optimize 340B program utilization and improve patient access to affordable medications in FQHC settings.
