Abstract

Based on her own seven-decade journey, the author details changes she noted during the aging process and how profoundly aging influenced her investment decisions. Exploring the labyrinth of many interrelated decisions, the author shares disappointments and mistakes as she discovered the path toward meaningful and prudent steps forward in both her charitable gifting and estate planning. Communications with family, advisors, accountants, and attorneys were critical throughout. Not based on academic research but rather on her own self-awareness, the author admits the entire journey is uniquely personal, not a template for others. However, self-knowledge is the critical foundation for integrating any of these decisions into a durable plan of action. Readers, both investors and advisors, may glean insights useful in their own journey through the labyrinth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
