Abstract

The article announces the winners of the 11th EM:IP Cover Graphic/Data Visualization Competition, which aims to advance educational measurement through clear and visually appealing data visualizations. The cover graphic of this issue features the predicted racial-ethnic composition of educational measurement publications, created by Richard Feinberg and Daniel Jurich from the National Board of Medical Examiners. The visualization draws upon data from various journals and uses Bayesian Improved Surname Geocoding to predict race-ethnicity based on authors' last names. The graph highlights the increasing diversity among Asian first authors but also points out the persistent underrepresentation of Black and Hispanic authors, emphasizing the need for greater efforts to align research perspectives with the assessment community.
