Abstract
The article discusses a federally funded survey revealing that substance use, including marijuana, hallucinogens, and binge drinking, among millennials and Generation X reached record levels in 2022. The Monitoring the Future study, funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), found that 28% of midlife adults aged 35–50 reported using marijuana in the past year, a significant increase from 13% a decade ago. While hallucinogen use among this age group remains low at 4%, it has risen from previous years. Conversely, younger adults aged 19–30 showed increased marijuana and hallucinogen use but a decline in cigarette and opioid misuse. The report highlights the need for updated knowledge on substance use across different age groups. [Extracted from the article]
