Abstract

Central State University in Ohio is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a land-grant institution. Since achieving land-grant status in 2014, the university has expanded its teaching mission to include research and outreach. The land-grant status provides additional federal funding for agricultural outreach and supports research programs in precision agriculture, food safety, pollinator health, and robotics. The university is holding a campus-wide open house to showcase its extension programs, labs, and opportunities for partnerships. Additionally, the article highlights two research projects at the university: one focused on sustainable aquaculture using hemp as a food additive for fish, and another focused on developing climate-smart commodities and improving soil health. The university is also using advanced technologies like hyperspectral imaging with drones to develop a soil carbon index and improve soil mapping accuracy. [Extracted from the article]
