Abstract

At this point, the authors introduce the Japanese Buddhist scholar Masao Abe and some of his views, to which the authors then respond (pp. 25-32). The authors of this engaging book seek "to show that a Buddhist can also be a Classical Theist" (p. 121). I would respectfully argue that Abe's life path is significant both to the dialogue that this book's authors conduct with him and to one's understanding of Buddhism as such.
