Abstract
This study examines the relationship between nurses' effective lifelong learning tendencies, career barriers, and job satisfaction among 1,665 nurses working at a university and city hospital in Ankara, Türkiye. Using the Effective Lifelong Learning Scale (ELLS), Career Barriers in Nursing Scale (CBNS), and Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale (MJSS), the study found that nurses generally exhibited high lifelong learning tendencies, moderate career barriers, and moderate job satisfaction. Lifelong learning positively correlated with job satisfaction, while career barriers negatively correlated with job satisfaction; however, lifelong learning and career barriers were not significantly correlated with each other. Regression analysis indicated that lifelong learning and career barriers together explained 11% of the variance in job satisfaction. The findings suggest that enhancing nurses' lifelong learning skills and reducing career barriers may improve their job satisfaction and potentially patient care outcomes, highlighting the importance of institutional support for nurses' professional development and career planning.
