Abstract
This article explores the intersections between disability justice (DJ), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and the stages of change model. DJ, which evolved from the disability rights movement, aims to establish civil rights for people with disabilities and address structural power imbalances. UDL, on the other hand, focuses on embedding accessibility in educational practices by providing diverse resources to match students' unique needs. The stages of change model, originally developed for addiction recovery, proposes six phases of change and suggests tailored communication and interventions for each phase. The article suggests that a blend of UDL and the stages of change model can be useful for educators in addressing issues of race, disability, and oppression in the classroom. It also highlights the importance of considering diverse perspectives and using multiple change models to shape pedagogy effectively. [Extracted from the article]
