Abstract

This article focuses on a project aimed at mediating English language teaching (ELT) research findings related to grammar instruction to teachers in Sri Lanka, addressing challenges of accessibility and applicability in South Asian contexts. The initiative involved teacher trainers from South Asia who developed exemplar-based materials and a checklist derived from accessible research summaries to facilitate understanding and practical use among Sri Lankan teachers. Feedback from over 400 teachers indicated that while the training introduced new concepts and was perceived as relevant and useful, many teachers lacked the time and expertise to independently create materials based on research findings, highlighting the need for ongoing support and provision of ready-to-use resources. The study recommends integrating research-informed materials into teacher training programs and emphasizes the role of teacher trainers and material designers as mediators between research and classroom practice.
