Abstract

This study investigates the attitudes of undergraduate students from special education and other education faculties towards Braille writing using the Attitude Scale Towards Braille Writing (ASTBW). Data collected from 311 students in Eskişehir revealed generally positive attitudes, with students in special education showing significantly higher interest, belief, and desire to learn Braille compared to their peers in other departments. Female students and those who had taken special education or Braille courses also demonstrated more positive attitudes. The findings suggest that exposure to special education content and familiarity with individuals with visual impairments are associated with more favorable attitudes toward Braille writing, highlighting the importance of integrating Braille-related training in teacher education programs.
