Abstract
This article examines the impact and effectiveness of online learning (OL) compared with conventional learning (CL) for Master of Social Work (MSW) students across 12 Indian states in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era. Using an online survey of 391 students, the study found that while students generally adapted well to new learning technologies (adaptation of learning new technology, AT), both theoretical learning (TL) and practical learning (PL) suffered due to limited direct supervision, a critical component in social work education. Regional differences emerged, with West Bengal students showing higher adaptability and engagement in both OL and CL, whereas states like Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu exhibited preferences for CL or challenges with OL. The findings highlight the need for tailored, blended educational approaches and enhanced support for practical training to maintain the quality of social work education amid digital transitions.
