Abstract

The article focuses on the impact of the metaverse—a virtual platform—on student participation and mental health in educational settings. While the metaverse can enhance learning by making it more dynamic and engaging, the reduction of physical interaction between students, teachers, and their environment may negatively affect students’ mental well-being, including feelings of belonging, empathy, and self-regulation. The authors argue that despite the growth of virtual learning environments, physical attachment remains essential for psychological health, and they recommend that governments and application developers consider students’ physiological and emotional needs when designing metaverse-based curricula.
