Examining exams. Are there credible alternatives to written examinations?

Abstract

The article focuses on the issue of role of written exams to provide a rigorous test of students' knowledge and understanding. It also focuses on common criticism of written exams regarding failure of the exam system to provide students with the wide range of skills that they need for later life and work.
