Abstract

The article in the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery discusses how preoperative health-related quality of life (HRQOL) can predict postoperative complications in thoracic surgery patients. While the study offers a new perspective on assessing preoperative risk, it has limitations, such as not fully considering surgical type differences and the impact of various dimensions of HRQOL. The authors suggest conducting subgroup analyses based on surgery type, age, and body mass index to enhance the study's reliability and applicability in clinical settings. The study was supported by funding from Zhejiang Province Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Project and Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China.
