Abstract
The article focuses on the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s (UTRGV) innovative, tuition-free Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration program designed for current full-time employees to develop leadership skills and advance their careers. Developed collaboratively by UTRGV’s Human Resources (HR) Department, Graduate College, and program leaders, the program features a flexible online curriculum, strategic talent development courses, personalized coaching, and practicum experiences. Since its launch in 2022, the program has enrolled two cohorts totaling 100 employees, with high graduation rates and significant career advancement among participants, demonstrating its effectiveness in leadership development and employee retention. The initiative exemplifies successful collaboration between academia and administration to cultivate institutional leadership and serves as a model for similar higher education institutions.
